Effective October 15, 2026

This page describes how Alku Markdown handles data on alkulab.com and in the Alku Markdown Android app. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].

The website

Cloudflare serves the site and processes request information such as your IP address and browser details to deliver and protect it. The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives the requests needed to provide those fonts.

We use Mixpanel to understand page visits and app-store link clicks only after you accept analytics. Events include the page path and type, page title, and the location of the link clicked. Mixpanel uses browser storage to recognize a returning browser. We do not ask for an account on the site or send your name or email address as event properties. If you decline, Mixpanel is not loaded. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage; clearing this site's data resets it.

The Android app

Markdown files and reading data are stored on your device by default. You can use local files without connecting a GitHub account. If you choose GitHub sync, the app accesses the repositories you authorize and sends the files you sync to GitHub. GitHub credentials are stored in the device's secure storage. A Cloudflare Worker handles the GitHub sign-in token exchange and does not keep a database of those tokens.

The app uses Sentry for crash reports and performance diagnostics. These reports can include error messages, app and device details, and context about what the app was doing when an error occurred. We use them to find and fix problems.

Sharing, retention, and choices

We use Cloudflare for hosting and sign-in infrastructure, Mixpanel for consent-based website analytics, and Sentry for app diagnostics. GitHub receives data when you choose to connect and sync a repository. These providers process data for their respective services and may process it outside your country. We do not sell your personal data.

Your browser keeps the analytics choice until you clear this site's storage. You can remove local app data using the app or your device; files opened from another folder may remain in that folder after the app is removed. Files you sync to GitHub remain subject to your GitHub account and repository settings. Service providers retain their records according to their settings and policies. Email us to ask about access, correction, or deletion of data we control, or to raise a privacy concern.

You can read the providers' own notices: Cloudflare, Mixpanel, Sentry, GitHub, and Google.

If you contact us, we receive the email address and message you send and use them to reply. We may update this notice as the site and app change; the effective date above will show when it was last revised.
